When You're Hot, You're Hot NHRA funny car driver, Ashley Force, was voted the Hottest Sports Athlete in the World on an AOL online poll. Others in the category (who lost to Ashley) included IRL's own Danica Patrick, softball player Jennie Finch and NFL's favorite quarterback Tom Brady. MuscleCarsLive.com was at the 2006 SEMA show in Las Vegas and I, your humble producer Gary, got to meet Ashley Force and Eric Medlen. If her statistics weren't enough to persuade us to vote for Ashley, her pleasant demeanor certainly was. Ashley, you know you got our vote!
Troxel Going Funny NHRA top-fuel dragster star, Melanie Troxel, is going to be getting into a funny car for the 2008 racing season. Recognizing her outstanding achievement in the top-fuel category, Mike Ashley's Gotham City Racing signed her to race in their funny-car in 2008. If she commands the track in a funny-car like she does in top-fuel the men out there better watch out!
NHRA star John Force was injured in a mid-race collision with Kenny Bernstein at the 22nd annual O?Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals near Dallas, Texas on September 23, 2007. Bernstein was uninjured, however Force sustained two broken legs and a hand injury. Force was air-lifted to Baylor University Medical Center and is recovering nicely. Force will sit out the rest of the season but vows to return as soon as possible.
We at MuscleCarsLive.com anticipate his return in 2008. If you would like to send John a Get-Well card, visit the Force Racing website for the mailing address.
Rookie of The Year? With the NHRA Drag Racing season underway, Ashley Force has consistently shown she has what it takes to be a champion funny car driver. Although she hit a few "speed-bumps" in her career, she always comes right back to race and win, just like dear ol' dad is known for.
MuscleCarsLive.com would like to thank her for her dedication to the sport and the shining example she has been for so many women aspiring to break into racing. If anyone deserves the 2007 NHRA Rookie of The Year, we believe it should be her.
Earnhardt Says Bye to Budweiser When Dale Earnhardt, Jr joins Hendrix Motorsports next season, Budweiser decided not to continue with the long-time corporate sponsorship with Earnhardt Racing.
Hendrick Motorsports announced in July that Budweiser would not continue as the sponsor of Earnhardt's car after this season because of Hendrick's "long-term contractual commitments to existing sponsors." This change can't be an easy one to make for either party considering the mutually beneficial relationship enjoyed by Earnhardt and Budweiser.
